How to increase your plant intake in one week.

It can seem overwhelming to include the recommended amounts of fruit and vegetables in our diets, so how do we do it? Here are 5 easy tips to increase your plant-take:


- Start your day with a fruit smoothie (you can include any fruit and vegetables you like and it's a great way of upping your greens), followed by a slice of toast and avocado and you're off to a great start, feeling fuller for longer.


- Remember that herbs, spices, nuts and seeds all count! Why not replace your morning biscuit with a handful of mixed nuts, a bowl of fruit salad or some veg crudités with humous?


- Warm yourself up with some vegetable soup for lunch, making it even more filling/nutritious with a small tin of lentils or chickpeas.


- Set yourself a challenge of replacing one or two dinners a week with a vegetarian option: this could be a super-veg stir fry, a delicious vegetable curry or ratatouille with couscous.


- Worried about waste? Remember that fruit and vegetables come in all packages and can be store cupboard or freezer essentials.
